Just In: LASU Don, Prof Omikorede Dies In Lagos Hospital

he Lagos State University community has been thrown into mourning following the death of one of it’s Don, Professor Oluwole Omikorede, who was until his death the Dean of Sciences.

According to the statement issued by Mr Ademola Adekoya, the Acting Director of the institution’s information unit, Professor Omikorede was still at work on Wednesday, November 1st before he died later at night at Igando General Hospital where he was rushed to for treatment.

Lagos State Commence Arrest And Prosecution Of Motorists Who Buys Goods In Traffic

According to reports, the government of Lagos State have commenced the immediate arrest and prosecution of motorists who buy goods in traffic.



The enforcement was confirmed when officials of the Environmental Sanitation Corps Agency (LASERCORPS) arrested 6 motorists at Ikeja along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway for allegedly buying goods in traffic. Also four passengers and nine hawkers were arrested during the operation.

A woman identified as Mrs Theresa Obalum was brutally hacked to death by one Mmadubueze Orakwulu on Friday morning in Mgbakwu, in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State. According to villagers, Orakwulu allegedly used a machete to hack Mrs. Theresa Obalum, (who was about 40 years of age) to death, while on her early morning routine of selling pap to customers.

Despite recent killings, another Nigerian attempts drugs trafficking to Indonesia

A 33-year-old Nigerian travelling to Soekarno–Hatta International Airport Jakarta, Indonesia, with narcotics has been arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
Lotachukwu Umeme, who was holding a Cote d’ lvoire International passport bearing the name Grou Bi Clauvis, was arrested while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to Indonesia.
 
After he tested positive for narcotic ingestion, 89 wraps of narcotics found to be methamphetamine weighing 1.205 kilogrammes were recovered from him, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said in a statement on Saturday.

What you might not know about Yemi Alade

Yemi Eberechi Alade was born on March 13, 1989 in Abia State, Nigeria. Her father James Alade is of Yoruba origin while her mother Helen Uzoma is of Igbo origin resulting in her being referred as "Yoruba-Igbo girl". Alade is the fifth out of the seven children in her family. She attended St Saviour British Primary School, then went on to Victory Grammar School, Lagos, before obtaining a degree in Geography at the University of Lagos.
